GABE carried out the Obelisk Bridge rehabilitation works on this historic road bridge in County Louth, Ireland. The project involved extensive structural repairs and refurbishment to improve the condition and long-term protection of the bridge.
GABE replaced the reinforced concrete bridge deck and installed a new waterproofing system. Our specialist team also grit blasted the existing steelwork before applying a protective paint system.
The works included steel repairs and the replacement of riveted connections to maintain the character of the existing structure. GABE also completed masonry repairs, repointed the bridge abutments and rebuilt sections of the approach walls.
Following the structural and refurbishment works, the team completed road surfacing to reinstate the bridge.
The project demonstrates GABE’s experience in bridge rehabilitation, steel refurbishment, protective coatings and the restoration of existing infrastructure.
